It will take a few reminders at first, but once it clicks it really clicks and becomes part of their routine!

Shirt Ironing Tips

Shirt Ironing Made Simple

Shirt ironing is nobody’s favourite job, but it’s got to be done. Now we just need to get the message out to the world to make it less painful for all involved!

Tip 1 | Collar

Collar first. Lay the collar out flat on the ironing board and iron from the outside in so to speak. This stops those nasty little creases on the stitched edges.

Tip 2 | Shoulder

Shoulder panel next. On the back of the shirt, there is a panel across the top between the collar and the main body of the shirt (called a yoke technically!). Try this bit next and then you won’t need to deal with it again. Here, I tend to get the back of the shirt too as that’s another task completed on the shirt ironing checklist!

Tip 3 | Sleeves

Now lay the sleeves flat on the board, one at a time. The crease should form naturally on the top if you fold it from the stitched seam that runs under your arm whilst wearing it.

Iron both sides of the sleeve, making sure not to cause two creases. This is the part you have to be most methodical about.

Tip 4 | Front

Now it’s just the front to go. Start with the side with the buttons on, iron it all, making sure to go between each button before moving onto the second side.

The most important step comes right at the very end! Hang it on a good hanger with the top button done up and leave it to hang until completely cool (10/15 minutes). This will help it hold its shape throughout the day!

Commercial Laundry Service in Wales

Wales’ Leading Commercial Laundry Service, and probably The Only National Award Winning Commercial Laundry  Service in Wales kept superstars feeling a little fresher with unbeatable fresh towels at Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend in Swansea.

Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend came to Swansea’s Singleton Park for what turned out to be one best festivals of 2018 during the 26th & 27th May.

As with all festivals, the combination of beautiful weather and superstars jumping around the stage resulted in a proactive action plan to provide 1400 towels. Radio 1’s festival partner was responsible for ensuring 1400 towels were not only onsite on time, yet beautifully cleaned for some pretty big names to use.

Radio 1’s festival partner faced a little dilemma as they sourced the towels direct from wholesaler. Those within the laundry and linen industry knows that brand new linen is not fit for use. It has to be cleaned to remove loose cotton, lint (linen fluff) and be prepared for use. No big deal when you have plenty of time to prepare and clean the items, right?

The wholesale order didn’t arrive to Singleton Park, Swansea until 12:30 pm. With superstars arriving Friday afternoon, a deadline of 5 pm was set to ensure towels were on-site and ready for stage warm-ups.

We were on call in the days leading up to the event, anticipating the delivery of these mystery towels that should have arrived Thursday.  Our flexibility of day and night communication provided peace of mind to Radio 1’s festival partner.

Football Kit Cleaning Tips

1. Football Kit Cleaning Tips | Tackle It ASAP

It’s very tempting as a mum or dad to leave our child’s football kit in the bag until we’re ready to face laundry day. You’re pretty much guaranteed to find this whole process more difficult if you leave the kit for days. Tackle the kit as soon as you walk through the door.

First things first. Remove the loose mud. Use COLD water, never hot. Swill the kit in a utility sink to remove the lumps of sand and mud. Don’t have a utility sink? Put the kit on a clothes horse (or wall) outside and swill it down with your hosepipe.

2. Football Kit Cleaning Tips | Pre-soak

Your football kit should no longer have loose sand or mud on it after following tip 1. 

Now, fill a large sink or bucket with COLD water (hot water will set the stain into the fabric) and put a cup of biological washing powder in the sink/bucket. (Biological washing powder is an enzyme based powder and breaks down natural stains far better than non-bio washing powder). 

Secondly add a cup of oxidizing stain remover (such as vanish). Domestically I would use Lidl’s W5 own brand oxidizing stain remover (it does exactly the same thing as vanish).

Use gloves and and give the football kit a good rub in the tub! Ensure the powder has completely dissolved and the football kit is fully submersed. The longer you leave the kit soak the better. I’d recommend at least 2-4 hours, however leave it overnight for the best results.

Is the football kit really really dirty? Change the water and repeat the football kit cleaning tip 2.

3. Football Kit Cleaning Tips | Pre-wash

Ensure your machine has a pre-wash option and take advantage of it. 

This allows the main wash to be as clean as possible. Use a cup of biological washing powder and half a cup of oxidizing stain remover in the pre-wash. Do the same for the main wash but use a full cup of oxidizing stain remover this time. 

This gives plenty of opportunity for the oxygen bubbles to work their magic on the football kit.

4. Football Kit Cleaning Tips | Chlorine Bleach

Simple tip, don’t use it. You’re wasting your time as it will have little affect on grass and mud stains. Stick to the oxidizing stain remover.

5. Football Kit Cleaning Tips | Drying

To guarantee no shrinkage it’s best to air dry your football kit. However it is possible to tumble dry the football kit on a low heat. The best suggestion is to follow the manufacturers instructions.
